Went to Christopher Garrens’ Let Em Eat Cake in Costa Mesa the other day, with my brother, after I’d been dying for something sweet.. cake mostly. Sadly, they didn’t have a huge selection to choose from. I guess I shouldn’t complain since they’re mainly a custom-made kind of bakery. I got one triple berry cake and one kalua cheesecake brownie, which were both $7 dollars a pop.
The first consisted of white cake layered in blueberry and raspberry mousse with fresh berries, rolled in a thick ring of decorated white chocolate, and was topped off with white chocolate shavings, some more fresh berries, a white chocolate deco.. which broke apart on the way home, and an edible leaf. The second had a moist brownie bottom, kalua flavored cheesecake middle, and was topped off with a thick layer of chocolate, dark chocolate shavings, a black and white chocolate stick, and two dark chocolate covered espresso beans.
These desserts did not disappoint! But I should warn you that these are to be shared (especially the cheesecake brownie). So, if you’re ever in the Costa Mesa area, drop by and taste it for yourself! ☺
